My doctoral dissertation is on Community-based transfer and development of network operational technologies based on case studies within the APNIC region. I believe that my academic knowledge can contribute to the improvement of technical capabilities within the region and also contribute to the leadership as APNIC EC.

Nominee statement

I am honored to be nominated again as an APNIC EC candidate.

I have a strong operational background with technologies like DNSSEC, IPv6, and RPKI. I am also familiar with various communities in the APNIC region through capacity-building activities. Once elected, I want to ensure APNIC continues improving its stable services. As a number resource registry, registration services are the critical and essential function of APNIC. We have a more operational dependency on APNIC nowadays. RPKI and DNSSEC are good examples of that. APNIC acts as an intermediate authority while verifying the digital signature of a number of resources.

We need patience and robust leadership to deploy new technologies such as IPv6, DNSSEC, and RPKI. Since each operator has a different policy and situation, I would ensure APNIC continues to provide efficient educational opportunities and training to its community so that members can design their adoption of new technologies.

I'll continue to attend various operational meetings and discuss with community members what is necessary for APNIC to meet members' expectations. I would like to ask for your support in getting me elected as APNIC EC and improving APNIC activities in the future.

Reason for nomination

We hereby nominate Mr Yoshinobu 'Maz' Matsuzaki for the APNIC Executive Council for his fourth term. He has been one of the most familiar faces in Asia Pacific Internet Community and also globally. He has been active to share the highest level of knowledge and expertise in the network operations and operational technologies, focusing on routing, DNS and security, in various Network Operators Group meetings including JANOG, bdNOG, btNOG, APRICOT and RIPE meetings. His excellence in Internet Technologies and Operations is highly widely recognized and appreciated.

His service at Board of Trustees of JPNIC for nine years has brought JPNIC the technical insight for IP address policy and registry operations, and he gained experience of the board level management for various aspect of not-for-profit organization. Regarding his service at APNIC Executive Council, we are more than sure his face as an EC member contributed better recognition of the EC. Throughout his three terms, he experienced a lot of substantial events and proceedings including two strategic plans with three stakeholder surveys, establishment of APNIC Foundation, COVID-19, challenge at AFRINIC, improvement of governance structure, among others. Such wealth of experience will be definitely needed in the coming years of APNIC with newly appointed Director General and changing circumstances.

With those qualities I mentioned above, high recognition from the Internet Community in the region and all over the world and many others, I am more than sure that Yoshinobu Matsuzaki will bring great value to the Executive Council to promote continuous development of APNIC and its community, if he be successfully elected.
